After almost 18 months in development, the G270 WerkFabric was ready to form the foundation for what would become the G2 WerkPant. The fabric was engineered with enough cotton to cause the fabric to burn rather than melt when heated. And with the integration of Cordura Nylon 6.6, we achieved durability in abrasion and tear-resistance that greatly exceeds similar weight cotton canvas / duck fabrics. In addition to the rip-stop pattern, the weave is engineered to provide two-way stretch – enabling comfort and range of motion, while maintaining enough structure to carry knee pads and tools without drooping.
For athlete mobility, we patterned the G2 with a gusseted inseam and articulated knees. The stretch direction for each panel was optimized. And we worked with COATS to engineer the G2 seams with Core Spun Poly thread - constructed like a Kernmantle climbing rope with an outer sheath that protects the inner core strands. This creates flexible seams that offer limited elongation, resistance to abrasion and exceedingly high ultimate strengths.
For technical detailing we added: knee pad pockets, a half dozen thigh pockets, removable / modular ‘tactical’ pockets, 3M micro-prismatic reflective details, pocket and hem protective overlays and bar-tacked belt loops.
The result is a very technical performance WerkPant ideally suited for protection, comfort and mobility in applications ranging from metal fabrication, pipe-fitting and industrial maintenance to demolition and residential construction.
